This vibrant cake, made with a box of white cake mix and colorful food coloring, is sure to please at any gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1 1/2 cups water (for cake mix)
  • 1/2 cup oil (for cake mix)
  • 4 egg whites (for cake mix)
  • 8 drops Wilton Neon Gel Food Coloring (2 drops of each color: green, pink, orange, and purple)
  • 2 boxes vanilla pudding (3 oz each)
  • 4 cups milk
  • 8 oz whipped topping
  • 23 tbsp sprinkles (pastel colored)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and spray a 9×13 baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. Prepare the cake mix according to directions on the package.
  3. Divide the cake batter between 4 small bowls, and add 2 drops of different food coloring to each bowl. Stir until color is completely mixed.
  4. Use a spoon to add the batter to the pan, placing it in rows of alternating colors.
  5. Bake in the oven according to package directions (about 25 minutes), or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  6. Remove from the oven and use the end of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the cake, about 1 inch apart.
  7. Prepare one box of pudding with 2 cups of milk in a medium bowl, whisking for 2 minutes. Pour the pudding over the cake, spreading it into the holes and over the cake.
  8. Refrigerate the cake for 1 hour.
  9. After 1 hour, mix the second box of pudding with the remaining 2 cups of milk, whisking for 2 minutes. Fold in the whipped topping and spread it over the cake.
  10. Top the cake with half of the sprinkles.
  11. Refrigerate for 2 more hours.
  12. Add the rest of the sprinkles right before cutting.
