Description
Delicious caramel pecan rolls that are soft, gooey, and perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, granulated sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, salt, and cinnamon. Add the melted butter, eggs, and yeast mixture. Mix until blended, then gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-1 hours.
- Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, melt the softened butter with brown sugar and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir until smooth and combined. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
- After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a 1/4-inch thick rectangle.
- Spread the softened butter over the dough and sprinkle the remaining brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly on top.
- Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the rolls on top of the caramel mixture in the baking dish. Cover with a towel and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- During the second rise, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about 10-15 minutes. Invert the dish onto a serving platter to reveal the delicious caramel.
Notes
- For an extra touch, drizzle some icing over the rolls after they have cooled slightly.
- These rolls can be stored in an airtight container for up to two days.
