Description

Delicious caramel pecan rolls that are soft, gooey, and perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, granulated sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, salt, and cinnamon. Add the melted butter, eggs, and yeast mixture. Mix until blended, then gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-1 hours.
  5. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, melt the softened butter with brown sugar and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir until smooth and combined. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
  6. After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a 1/4-inch thick rectangle.
  7. Spread the softened butter over the dough and sprinkle the remaining brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly on top.
  8. Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Place the rolls on top of the caramel mixture in the baking dish. Cover with a towel and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  10. During the second rise, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  11. Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  12. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about 10-15 minutes. Invert the dish onto a serving platter to reveal the delicious caramel.

Notes

  • For an extra touch, drizzle some icing over the rolls after they have cooled slightly.
