Description

A comforting dish of layered Yukon gold potatoes baked with cream and cheese.


Ingredients

  • 5 pounds Yukon gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0 cup Parmesan cheese, grated (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • 0 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a pot, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant. Stir in flour, then add cream, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer to combine.
  3. Layer half the potatoes in a greased baking dish, pour half the cream mixture, and sprinkle with half the cheese. Repeat layers.
  4. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until golden.

  • For a richer flavor, add more cheese on top before the final baking stage.
