A comforting dish of layered Yukon gold potatoes baked with cream and cheese.

- 5 pounds Yukon gold potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 0 cup Parmesan cheese, grated (plus extra for topping)
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
- 0 teaspoon kosher salt
- 0 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a pot, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant. Stir in flour, then add cream, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer to combine.
- Layer half the potatoes in a greased baking dish, pour half the cream mixture, and sprinkle with half the cheese. Repeat layers.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until golden.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add more cheese on top before the final baking stage.
- Let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving.
