Key Ingredients for Easy Bakery-Style Cinnamon Roll Cookies
Cinnamon Roll Cookies are a delightful twist on a classic favorite, allowing you to enjoy those warm, gooey flavors in a portable treat. Here’s a closer look at the key ingredients that will elevate your cookie experience.
Almond Flour: I love using almond flour because it offers a delightful nutty flavor and serves as a gluten-free option. The texture is softer and more tender than cookies made with standard flour, giving you that bakery-style experience at home.
Coconut Sugar: This natural sweetener is my go-to for adding a hint of caramel flavor. It keeps the cookies moist without being overly sweet, making it perfect for that rich cinnamon experience we crave.
Grass-Fed Butter or Vegan Substitute: The choice of a high-quality butter or a good vegan alternative really enriches the flavor. Brands like Monty’s offer excellent dairy-free options that don’t sacrifice taste.
Eggs: One room-temperature egg is all you need! It adds necessary structure and richness to the dough, helping everything come together beautifully.
Cream Cheese: The secret to a velvety smooth frosting lies in using softened cream cheese. It perfectly complements the cookies’ flavors, creating a delicious finish.

Tips for Making Perfect Cinnamon Roll Cookies
Creating easy bakery-style cinnamon roll cookies at home is a delightful experience that fills your kitchen with warmth and sweetness. To ensure your cookies turn out as delicious as possible, here are some helpful techniques and common pitfalls to avoid.
Helpful Techniques and Common Pitfalls to Avoid
-
Cream Your Butter and Sugar Well: Start by creaming together the butter and sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. This step adds air, ensuring your cookies are soft and tender.
-
Don’t Overmix the Dough: Once you add the dry ingredients, mix just until combined. Overmixing can lead to tough cookies, diminishing that tender texture you crave.
-
Chill the Dough: After forming your dough into balls, chilling it for at least 30 minutes enhances the flavors and helps the cookies hold their shapes better when baked.
-
Properly Measure Ingredients: Use a kitchen scale or the spoon-and-level method when measuring flour and sugar. Too much flour can make your cookies dry.
-
Watch the Baking Time: Every oven is different! Start checking your cookies a minute or two before the suggested baking time to prevent over-baking.
-
Use Quality Cinnamon: The flavor of your cookies largely depends on the quality of the cinnamon you use. Opt for freshly ground or higher-grade cinnamon for an extra flavor boost.
By following these tips, you’re well on your way to producing warm, gooey easy bakery-style cinnamon roll cookies that will impress everyone around the table. Happy baking!

Cinnamon Roll Cookies
- Total Time: 32 minutes
- Yield: 24 cookies 1x
- Diet: Vegan, Gluten-Free
Description
Delicious cinnamon roll cookies topped with cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups Almond flour
- 1 egg, room temp
- 6 tbsp grass-fed butter or vegan butter, or coconut oil
- 2/3 cup Coconut sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 cup melted grass-fed butter or vegan butter (*I love the brand Monty’s for dairy-free butter. Great ingredients.)
- 1/3 cup coconut sugar
- 1 tbsp almond flour (*this helps keep the filling from running)
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened (regular, lactose-free, or vegan) (*I love KiteHill or Monty’s for dairy-free!)
- 1/2 cup monk fruit powdered sugar (or regular powdered sugar)
- 2–3 tbsp milk of choice, as needed
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Make Cinnamon Roll Filling: In a small bowl, mix together all the cinnamon roll filling ingredients. Set aside while you make the cookie dough.
- Make the dough: In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together the coconut oil and coconut sugar for 2-3 minutes, until super smooth and no lumps remain. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until fully incorporated. Then, add the almond flour, baking soda, and a pinch of sea salt. Mix just until a cohesive dough forms.
- Use a cookie scoop to form dough balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Make an indent in the center of each and add some of the cinnamon sugar mixture. Grab more dough, roll it into a ball, and flatten between your palms. Place this over top of the cookies, covering the filling. Gently seal it around the edges.
- Bake the cookies for 12 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges. Remove from the oven and let cool for 15 minutes on the baking sheet. Then move to a wire rack to let them cool further.
- Once completely cool, top with cream cheese frosting or glaze. If using my recipe above, simply whip everything together until smooth and creamy, then use!
- Combine the softened cream cheese, powdered monk fruit sugar, and vanilla and whisk well until combined. Add milk of choice, 1 tbsp at a time, until it reaches a thick glaze. You can taste the glaze & add more powdered sugar if needed. Frost the cooled cookies and enjoy!
Notes
- Refrigerator storage: Store in an air-tight container for up to 5 days (you can warm them up for a few seconds if you’d like or leave them out at room temp for a bit before enjoying).
- Freezer storage: Freeze baked, un-frosted cookies for up to 2 months. Thaw, warm, then frost before serving.
